Green & Energy-Efficient Ship Design

Efficient vessels. Lower energy demand. Future-ready design.

Hudson Marine Solutions LLC provides vessel design solutions focused on energy efficiency, hydrodynamic performance, practical operation, safety and environmental performance. Design development considers applicable IMO energy-efficiency requirements from the earliest project stages.

Design Philosophy

Green performance built into the vessel

Our ship design approach integrates hull-form efficiency, propulsion and machinery selection, onboard energy demand, operational profile and regulatory considerations. The objective is to develop practical vessel solutions that reduce fuel and energy consumption while supporting safe, reliable and efficient operation throughout the vessel's service life.

IMO Energy-Efficiency Requirements

Regulatory considerations within the design process

EEDI — Energy Efficiency Design Index Design-stage consideration of applicable EEDI requirements, with attention to vessel particulars, propulsion power, speed, capacity and energy-efficient design measures.
EEXI — Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index Engineering assessment and design support for applicable EEXI requirements, including evaluation of technical efficiency measures and their effect on vessel performance.
CII — Carbon Intensity Indicator Design and operational considerations that can support improved carbon-intensity performance, including energy-saving measures, propulsion efficiency and operating-profile assessment.
Project-specific compliance: Applicability and required criteria for EEDI, EEXI, CII and other IMO or class requirements depend on vessel type, size, construction status and operating profile. Each project is therefore assessed against the requirements applicable to that vessel.
